Presidential commission on investigating missing persons of Sri Lanka informed of over 2,300 disappearances in the North

Nov 10, Colombo: A civil society in Sri Lanka has informed the Commission to Investigate Missing Persons appointed by the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa that over 2,300 people have gone missing in the Northern Province.
A civil society organization in Mannar has handed over data of over 2,300 missing persons in the North to the Commission, the local media reported.
The organization has reportedly handed over the report following research carried out in the North.
According to the report, 904 persons aremissing in the Jaffna District while 610 are missing in Kilinochchi, 181 in Vavuniya, 138 in Mannar and 468 in Mullaitivu.
The three-member Commission to Investigate Missing Persons, chaired by Attorney Maxwell Parakrama Paranagama, is tasked with investigating cases of persons from the Northern and Eastern Provinces who went missing during the war.
