WhyHunger and Hard Rock organizations visit NAFSO

WhyHunger and Hard Rock organizations are supporting to NAFSO women and Children programs in war affected areas and to the fisheries related activities in Sri Lanka. The partnership was began after the war and continue to support NAFSO work during the past 3 years. The idea of visit to Sri Lankan beneficiaries physically was raised by WhyHunger team. They want to meet the communities, learn the situation, find what way the life and livelihoods enhanced with the support of WhyHunger and Hard Rock Café through NAFSO in the northern district of Jaffna and some possible areas in south was the plan for the visit.They have discussed with us 22 of October .In that discussion could shared our vision, mission ,our concerns   and main activities.Then they visited Negombo lagoon and could could have given sea plane struggle.After that they visited Sri Vimukthi women organization.Then they went to the Jafnna and visited welfare camps and children activities which was conducted by the NAFSO      

Focus group meeting -At Mannar

We have conducted  focus group meeting on IDP rights on 26 th of October in  Mannar district.In that meeting they taken the decision for the future actions .
*GA has told to the our Animator that there is no any IDP in Mannar district.So people decided to write a letter to challenge that speech.
*To prepare the exhibition for the alternative people forum in colombo where  we plan to conduct the parallel  people forum.
*To highlight the IDP s Issues and preparer the document to hand over the Northern provincial chief  Minister Mr .Yogesveran .

Trincomalli district fisheries solidarity and  NAFSO field coordinators  prepared the village development plan in each village where we promoting the Budget monitoring and IDPs rights.Main responsibility was taken by the citizen forum.How ever, after the discussing with local authorities they could have hand over the main issues for before  a preparing   the 2014 budget. Citizen forum organized the occasion to hand over the  report to the authorities on 21 of October at cooperative hall in Trincamalli.Urban council chairmen,members Pradeshiya shbaha [Local government] ,District praja comity chairmen and NAFSO Secretariat  participated that program.

Reformed the distirict comuty of trincomalli

District fisheries solidarity was started since 2003. It was functioning well.but last two years they have worked under the orientated process.So they have decided to reform and strengthen the district comity .According to that decision they had meeting  at Mahamayapura  on  20 th October 2013
They have taken decision as below

-To give the membership forum for the members to review their membership.
-To select the new coordination team in next meeting .
-Prepare the action plan for the next year.
-Conduct the district meeting once a month but after the six month decide to held once in two month.

Livilihood program Mannar

 We have conducted  the livelihood program  for the Internal displace persons in selected villages of Mannar district.We have been working with these villages since 2009.We can see the difficulties of their life .So we could have given some assistance for their livelihood promotion projects which was supported by the CCFD on 19 th October 2013.   

 

Training on the Land rights

DIFSO [District fisheries solidarity ] organized a training  for the comity leaders and youth on land rights.35 members participated that program and that was facilitated by former land commissioner Mr.KGurunadan  of east province. He  had highlighted the issues such as Land law,Land tenure,New land policies,responsibility of the people,and how and where  to Chanel the authorizes to solving their issues
