Campaign against propose seed act

There was  be a public protest which  organize by the  National Movement for Protection of Seed Rights and that campaign will be starting from the Palan thuna Junction (In front of the Buddadhasa ground) at about 10.00 am on 24^th of June 2014. The campaign march moved to  the Ministry of Agriculture in Baththaramulla. Then all the participant conducted  Sathyagraha Campaign in front of the  Ministry of Agriculture.Although they plan to hand over the memorandum to the ministry he did not come to that place Finally some leaders got permission to hand over
memorandum to the ministry.Farmers of the Polonnaruwa ,Anuradapura,Galle,Puttlam,Kurunagarala ,Batticaloa,Monaragala ,Matale,Kandy,Gampaha,Kegalle,Mathara,Ampara  districts participated that campaign.In the same time religious sectors, CSOs and fisher people collaborate with this campaign 

 

 

Land Grabbing at Trincomalee

The meeting was held at trincomalee last 14 of June 2014.Most of the leaders of the villages participated that meeting .due to militarization situation they were fear to do any advocacy campaign against the  land grabbing .How ever they have decided to build the coalition with south CSOs to get their rights

We conducted the Blogger design training for the coordinators in 02 of June 2014 at NAFSO training center.Mr. Jerad facilitated for the training .   

Collobaration effort for democracy

Civil societies, political leaders,Academics ,Women leaders, Media sector  and IDP welfare centers leaders got together in 23 of May at Yal padi Hall at Jaffna.They discussed present situation  of the north and East  .Then they decided to getting together for protecting their IDPs rights and Land rights

The Professional Web Journalists Association hand over the petition

A petition was handed over to the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRC) 21 of May 2014,today  against some websites being unofficially banned by the Government.
The petition was handed over to the HRC by the Professional Web Journalists Association in the presence of media rights groups and opposition politicians.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said that the UNP will raise the issue in parliament of news and information websites being restricted access in Sri Lanka.

No answer from the Cadinal Malcan Rangith

We met Mullikulam people on 09 th of May at camp.They explain about the  broken promises from the Government.They have sent the letters to the Cardinal because he also mediated that promises but still they didnot get any answer from him.So they sent the second letter too.They decided to send another letter to the Cardinal and also decided to meet TNA political leaders
