                                    Joint May 1, 2014 Celebration

National Fisheries Solidarity Movement [NAFSO] has organized May 1 celebration in collaboration with some trade unions, mainly FTZ women workers at Katunayaka, women fisher folk from Negombo, Matara and Kalpitiya, as well as human rights groups, media and possible other actors related to workers and act on worker’s rights.

Objectives:
Our Objective is to bring working class people, mainly women, together with factory workers, fishers and possibly farmers in the May 1 celebration for building up strong unity to intervene for worker’s rights collectively.
Also, we expect to commemorate the assassinated FTZ worker Roshen Chanaka and continue to push for the disclosure and execution of the Mahanama THilakaratne Commission report, as this has been the demand and protest action for more than 35 months continuously until now.
Lastly, through this activity, we intend to forge solid unity among the individual workers unions working in Negombo, Katunayake area and act jointly as a wider  group or base in the future.
